We're a small team in Zurich developing Solskin - an adaptive solar facade that actually thinks. Most solar panels just sit there, but ours moves and responds to weather conditions using AI, optimizing both energy production and indoor comfort at the same time. We combine intelligent shading with solar generation through moveable panels that can reduce a building's energy consumption by up to 80%.
The technology started as research at ETH Zürich's architecture department, and we've now moved beyond the lab to install our systems on real buildings across Switzerland and abroad. What makes us different is that we're not just slapping PV panels on walls - we're creating a dynamic building envelope that learns from its environment and the people inside. Our prefabricated modular system means we can adapt to pretty much any building, whether it's new construction or renovation, offices or homes. We've picked up some recognition along the way, including the Watt d'Or from the Swiss Federal Office of Energy and selection for the official Swiss delegation to the World Climate Summit. At the end of the day, we're engineers who want to make buildings carbon neutral without making them ugly or uncomfortable to live in.
