ResMed builds cloud-connected medical devices and digital health technologies for sleep apnea, COPD, and chronic disease management, plus out-of-hospital care software.
ResMed, founded in 1989 in Australia, develops digital health technologies and cloud-connected medical devices that treat sleep apnea, COPD, and other chronic diseases, along with out-of-hospital software platforms for caregivers. The engineering scope spans three segments: cloud-connected CPAP machines, masks, and accessories for sleep apnea therapy; cloud-connected bilevel devices and ventilators for respiratory care and COPD management; and Residential Care Software, out-of-hospital healthcare management solutions used by professionals and caregivers in home and care settings.
The work sits on a device-to-cloud boundary. Therapy hardware is paired with digital health technologies and cloud connectivity, so engineering effort covers the embedded device side as well as the data and software platforms that support clinicians and caregivers outside the hospital. Residential Care Software extends that stack into care-setting workflows rather than therapy delivery itself.
Deployment scale is substantial: in the past 12 months the company reports impacting more than 154 million lives, with patients served in more than 140 countries and a workforce of over 10,000 employees. Its stated mission target is to change 500 million lives by 2030, with a stated focus on keeping people healthier and out of the hospital.
