We are seeking an associate scientist/scientist to join the SmartLab within Drug Product Design and Supply.
The successful candidate will support automation and technology processes for pharmaceutical drug candidates by designing and implementing predictive models and data driven workflows for materials and formulations innovation.
Position Responsibilities
- The successful candidate will partner with R&D teams to design and implement predictive models and data-driven workflows.
- Manage, clean, transform, and integrate large datasets from experimental, automated formulation systems.
- Identify patterns, correlations, and performance drivers through advanced analytics.
- Leverage machine learning and statistical methods to accelerate material selection, formulation optimization, cost, and performance prediction
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to implement automated equipment and develop novel solutions for execution of laboratory experimentation.
- Innovate with academic and industrial collaborators to identify unmet needs and develop novel solutions.
- Develop and implement data analytics tools for process optimization, process modeling, and visualization.
- Develop robust, maintainable Python code (or equivalent) to automate data preparation, model training, and results visualization
- Enable data management systems to retrieve, process and store relevant lab data from both manual and automated experiments.
- Partner with research scientists and engineers on suitable experimentation to deliver DPDS workflows for solid dosage form development.
- Participation with departmental initiatives, continuous improvement teams, scientific presentations, and external collaborations to influence scientific and business impact of the group.
- Master of Science Degree in Data Sciences, Automation Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or closely related discipline; OR a Bachelor’s degree in these disciplines with 2-4 years of relevant experience in a laboratory setting.
- 3+ years of relevant informatics/data science experience
- Strong coding with C/C++ or Python
- Experience working with Application Programming Interface (API) and Open Platform Communications (OPC)
- Proven expertise in data science, including statistical modeling, predictive analytics, and machine learning
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to transform experimental data into actionable insights
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across scientific and technical disciplines.
Preferred Requirements
- Experience with robotics, automation, data analytics and machine vision systems used in laboratory automation
