Estat Actuation

About

We're a team of robotics and engineering experts building electroadhesive clutches and brakes that transform how robots move and operate. Based in Pittsburgh, we founded this company in 2019 because we saw that traditional actuation components were holding back lightweight robotics - they were too heavy, too bulky, and wasted too much energy. Our technology is different: it's 10x lighter, 10x more compact, and 1000x more efficient than conventional clutches, which opens up entirely new possibilities for robot designers and engineers.

The hardware we create isn't just incrementally better - it represents a fundamental shift in what's possible in motion control. We work with manufacturers producing robots, safety equipment, and motion control systems who need their products to be lighter, more precise, and more energy-efficient. Our electroadhesive brakes are paper-thin and engage instantly when power is lost, making them ideal for applications where safety and reliability matter most. We're proud to be part of Pittsburgh's growing robotics ecosystem and excited to help our customers push the boundaries of what robots can do.
