Skana Robotics

Skana Robotics builds software-defined autonomous surface, underwater, and amphibious vessels with ROS 2-based onboard autonomy and a central mission orchestration system for naval and maritime operators.

Skana Robotics develops a unified maritime autonomy system for naval forces and other maritime operators, built around a hardware/software split between software-defined vessels and shared mission orchestration. The company's vehicle line covers three operating domains: Bull Shark, an autonomous surface vessel; Stingray, an autonomous underwater vessel; and Alligator, an amphibious vessel. Vessels can operate independently or as a coordinated fleet.

Onboard autonomy runs on Vera Edge OS, a programmable command core built on ROS 2 that executes mission logic locally on each vessel. Fleet-level coordination is handled by SeaSphere, the central system that plans and orchestrates missions across vessels. The stack spans technical domains including multi-agent fleet coordination, mission planning and orchestration, and software-defined defense systems.

Intended application areas include naval defense, maritime security, harbor and port protection, critical infrastructure monitoring, maritime logistics, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR), and maritime presence operations, with geographic focus on NATO member states and allied forces. The stated architecture philosophy is open and modular, supporting interoperability with allied and legacy systems, NATO-standard integration, real-time data sharing, and rapid software upgrades.

Engineering emphasis falls on operational scalability, mass production, and low logistical burden. The founding team brings experience across maritime special operations, autonomous systems, and defense technology.
