Oklo

Oklo designs and deploys liquid metal-cooled fast fission power plants (15-75 MWe) that use recycled nuclear waste as fuel, with passive safety systems that reduce reactor power without human intervention.

Oklo designs and deploys advanced fission power plants built around liquid metal-cooled fast neutron reactors. Its flagship Aurora powerhouse is rated at 15-75 MWe and is engineered to consume nuclear waste as fuel. The reactor design emphasizes passive safety: mechanisms that reduce reactor power without human intervention, which places real demands on autonomous instrumentation, actuation, and control logic rather than operator-in-the-loop response.

Beyond reactor hardware, Oklo is developing nuclear fuel recycling technology to supply its fast reactor fleet. The company works with U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission regulators on licensing and deployment, and maintains a presence at Idaho National Laboratory (Idaho, US) and in Ohio, US. Target end uses include data centers, artificial intelligence facilities, remote communities, industrial sites, and defense installations - environments where grid reliability and unattended operation are hard constraints.

Deployment scale is substantial: an order book of approximately 15 GW, a 1.2 GW nuclear energy campus under a partnership with Meta, and a target of 2028 for first commercial operations of an Aurora powerhouse.
