ATZ Manufacturing

ATZ Manufacturing designs and builds tracked electric drive systems and all-terrain mobility products out of Marshall, Minnesota. The company was founded in 2009 by Tim Swenson, who built the first Trackchair - a tracked electric all-terrain wheelchair - for his son from a sketch, electrical work, a broken boat seat, and two snowmobile tracks. The product line has since expanded to include the Trackporter, a tracked electric system for hauling and utility applications, and the Trackbot, a tracked electric platform aimed at robotic applications.

For robotics engineers, the relevant part of the stack is the tracked drive system itself: an electrically driven, skid-steered track architecture proven in outdoor and off-pavement duty on the Trackchair and Trackporter, and packaged in the Trackbot for integration into robotic platforms. The systems are developed and produced in-house rather than assembled from outsourced subsystems, which keeps mechanical, electrical, and controls decisions under one roof.

Manufacturing capability at the Marshall, Minnesota facility covers laser cutting, robotic welding, CNC machining, tube bending, powder coating, and electrical work, with custom design performed in SolidWorks. Alongside its own products, ATZ offers individual engineering and fabrication services to customers, including custom solutions built to specification.

ATZ is a second-generation, family-owned manufacturer. The company's stated emphasis is on practical innovation, reliable production, and expanding access to the outdoors for people facing mobility challenges, with close, individual service to customers.
