We are seeking a Robotics Systems & Embedded Engineer to join our office in Vienna. This role is the vital link between our complex software ecosystem and the physical world. You will work at the intersection of firmware development, sensor fusion, and robotic control, ensuring that our hardware executes high-level logic with real-time precision. You aren't just writing code; you are building the foundation that allows our robots to perceive, navigate, and manipulate objects in dynamic human environments. More specifically, you will:

● Design and implement real-time software for robotic components, focusing on sensor integration and robotic arm control.

● Maintain and improve C++ interfaces that expose hardware capabilities to the navigation, perception, and manipulation stacks, with focus on performance and reliability.

● Integrate and calibrate various sensors, ensuring reliable data flow from hardware to ROS-based systems.

● Work directly with physical robot hardware in our Vienna office to perform testing, debugging, and performance optimization.

● Collaborate with the international team to troubleshoot hardware-software interface failures and implement robust error recovery mechanisms.

● Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code for production-grade robotics.

We are looking for a curious, hands-on engineer who is tired of "perfect" simulations that break in the real world. You are someone who enjoys the "close-to-the-metal" experience—debugging signal noise, optimizing real-time performance, and seeing your code come to life in a physical machine. While experience in robotics is a fantastic asset, it is not a mandatory requirement. We value deep expertise in embedded systems, real-time Linux, and robust C++ development over specific prior robotics experience. ● Embedded Systems: Strong understanding of real-time constraints, and ability to understand and debug existing MCU firmware, troubleshooting hardware-level communication issues.

● Software Engineering: Comfortable with Git, modern CI/CD workflows, and production-level code standards.

● Hardware Integration: Proven track record of integrating complex hardware like multi-DOF robotic arms or high-resolution camera systems.

● Mathematics: Solid foundation in geometry, linear algebra, and kinematics as applied to robotic manipulation and sensing.

● Robotics: Familiarity with ROS/ROS2 or equivalent.

● Autonomy Built on Trust: We aim for high domain ownership and minimal micromanagement. Newer hires or juniors get closer guidance early on, but as trust is built, you get full room to run.

● Fast PoCs, Rigorous Production: Build scrappy prototypes fast to prove value on physical hardware. Once greenlit, switch to extreme rigor—because this code runs autonomously around real people.

● Radical Accountability: When something breaks, no hiding or blame-game. Own it candidly, fix it fast, and re-engineer the system so it never happens again.

● Data Over Ego: No politics, no bureaucracy. Technical truth is decided by physics, telemetry, and test data—the best idea wins regardless of title or tenure.

● Global & Hands-On Collaboration: Work with a lean, cross-functional team across Vienna lab and multiple other locations, keeping tight feedback loops on real robots.

A robot that cannot navigate reliably cannot be useful. In this role, your work directly influences how our robots move, reason about space, and perform robustly in real-world environments outside ideal lab conditions.

This is a high-impact role for an engineer who enjoys the full loop: algorithms, architecture, integration, field debugging, and long-term product reliability in contact with real environments and real users.
