Accuray builds the robotic and imaging hardware behind two radiation therapy platforms deployed clinically in roughly 50 countries. For robotics engineers, the core of the work is the CyberKnife System, a robotic radiosurgery device Accuray pioneered for stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) and stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT). The system couples a compact linear accelerator to a robotic manipulator and uses AI-driven, real-time motion synchronization to track target movement during delivery - meaning the beam follows the anatomy rather than forcing the patient to hold still. That closed loop between perception, robot kinematics, and dose delivery is the central engineering problem in the product. The second platform, the Radixact System, is the current-generation TomoTherapy architecture. It integrates 3D kVCT and megavoltage CT imaging with image-guided intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IG-IMRT), so image acquisition, plan guidance, and delivery share one system rather than separate workstations. The technical domains across the product line span robotic precision systems, SRS/SBRT, IG-IMRT, and both kV and MV CT imaging - a mix of embedded control, real-time software, imaging physics, and radiation oncology constraints that have to agree under clinical tolerances.
