The Role
We are looking for a Senior Robotics Engineer to lead the design, development, and field deployment of our autonomous inspection platforms. This is a hands‑on role that spans mechanical integration, embedded system interfaces, and autonomous mission software — with direct exposure to site deployments across Australia.
What You Will Do
- Architect and implement robot autonomy stacks using ROS 2 for infrastructure inspection missions
- Integrate and calibrate multi-modal sensor suites: cameras, LiDAR, thermal, and ultrasonic
- Develop and validate navigation, localisation, and mission execution modules for unstructured environments
- Lead field deployments alongside operations teams — commissioning, troubleshooting, and iterating on‑site
- Contribute to hardware selection and mechanical integration decisions with the systems team
- Define testing frameworks and acceptance criteria for autonomous systems in safety‑critical contexts
What We Are Looking For
- 5+ years of hands‑on robotics engineering experience in applied or industrial settings
- Deep proficiency with ROS 2 and C++ for real‑time robot control and mission logic
- Demonstrated experience with sensor integration (LiDAR, RGB‑D, IMU, thermal)
- Experience with SLAM, localisation, and navigation in GPS‑denied or unstructured environments
- Exposure to field deployment in industrial or infrastructure environments (rail, construction, mining, utilities)
- Strong problem‑solving instincts — you're as comfortable on‑site with a multimeter as you are reviewing a PR
Where You’ll Work
Our head office is in Melbourne and we have a second office in Sydney. We are open to flexible and remote working arrangements anywhere in Australia for the right person, so where you are based should not stop you from applying.
This role does involve periodic travel to sites where our systems are deployed, across infrastructure, rail and construction projects around the country.
