Lyte

Lyte builds end-to-end 4D vision systems using edge AI to enable real-time perception for robots operating in real-world conditions.

Lyte, founded in 2021 by former Apple Face ID engineers, develops end-to-end vision systems for robots operating in unstructured, real-world environments. The company's core technical focus is 4D perception - combining spatial and temporal understanding - processed on-device via edge AI to deliver real-time intelligence from raw sensor data. Their unified hardware-software stack is designed to close the loop between sensing and action for robotic platforms where latency and reliability are hard constraints.

The company emerged from stealth with $107 million in funding to build what it describes as the perception layer of Physical AI. Rather than offering a modular sensor or standalone algorithm, Lyte's systems integrate sensing, compute, and perception software into a single deliverable, targeting the full stack from photon to behavioral output. The goal is to abstract away the perception pipeline complexity so robot developers can focus on application-layer control and planning.

Lyte's technology is being developed for deployment across a range of robotic form factors, including autonomous mobile robots, robotic arms, quadrupeds, robotaxis, and humanoids. Each of these platforms presents distinct constraints - power budgets, compute envelopes, occlusion patterns, and motion profiles - that shape how the perception stack must be engineered. The company's work addresses the gap between laboratory-grade vision benchmarks and the degradation that occurs under real-world lighting, weather, and dynamic scene conditions.
