Lunar Outpost

Lunar Outpost builds commercial lunar robotics and surface mobility systems, including human-rated terrain vehicles for NASA's Artemis program.

Lunar Outpost develops commercial space robotics, lunar surface mobility systems, and in-space infrastructure. The company's engineering work spans mechanical, electrical, software, and systems disciplines, with a primary focus on enabling sustained human presence on the Moon. Its current product development includes human-rated lunar terrain vehicles for NASA's Artemis campaign.

The technical stack covers the full robotics lifecycle - mobility platforms operating in regolith and low-gravity environments, avionics and power systems designed for thermal extremes and radiation, and flight software managing autonomy, teleoperation, and fault tolerance. Hardware-software co-design is a given: constraint domains overlap heavily, from terrain interaction modeling to real-time state estimation under communication latency.

Internally, Lunar Outpost operates with a "test early, test often" philosophy, favoring iteration over extended upfront perfectionism. Engineers own deliverables directly and work across disciplines - mechanical, electrical, and software teams collaborate from concept through field test. Technical ideas are evaluated on merit regardless of source, and each team member is positioned to have a direct impact on mission outcomes.
