Pre-seed startup building a platform combining imitation learning, reinforcement learning, and AI so users can teach robots custom behaviours through human demonstration.
Imitation Machines is a pre-seed startup building an integrated platform that combines imitation learning, reinforcement learning, robotics, and AI to let users create new and custom robot behaviours by teaching robots through human demonstration rather than conventional programming. The approach is centered on robot learning from demonstration: behaviours are shown to the system instead of being hand-coded, and the platform is intended to work across robot forms and environments in different industries.
Development is practice-first. Real-world robot deployments with industry partners guide research and development, and the company deliberately engages with unsimplified, noisy, and unpredictable in-field conditions rather than constrained lab settings. The technical work spans imitation learning, reinforcement learning, and machine learning applied to physical robots, with a stated commitment to advancing the state of the art in robot learning.
The company is a small, growing team hiring machine learning and robotics engineers. A limited number of paid internship positions are available, along with a small number of unpaid, learning-focused internships that include close mentorship, real project exposure, and skill-building, and that can lead to future paid positions.
