About

We're a team of engineers and operators building something genuinely new: a completely automated grocery fulfillment system that actually works. Most online grocery operations are messy, expensive, and labor-intensive. We reimagined the whole thing from scratch. Our robots handle the picking and packing across all product categories and temperature zones - fresh produce, frozen goods, everything - while tracking inventory at the item level. This isn't theoretical. Our systems are live in Mountain View, powering grocery delivery for major retailers.

What drives us isn't just automation for its own sake. It's solving the environmental and economic problems in the food supply chain. By making online grocery profitable and efficient, we reduce waste, lower emissions, and create a system that's actually sustainable. We're backed by top-tier VCs and partnered with industry leaders, but we're still building like a startup: fast, focused, and willing to tackle the hard problems that others won't touch.

BotBuilt

BotBuilt develops robotic systems for residential construction, targeting a $600 billion industry facing labor shortages and efficiency constraints. The company's approach combines software and hardware engineering to automate homebuilding processes, with particular focus on framing operations. Their systems have already delivered framing components for multiple houses, working in partnership with traditional home builders to integrate automation into existing construction workflows. The technical challenge centers on building flexible robotic systems that can operate in the variable conditions of construction sites while maintaining the precision required for residential framing. The engineering stack spans computer vision, SLAM, motion planning, and MLOps, implemented primarily in C++ and Python. Unlike fixed-position industrial robots, these systems must handle the spatial variability and environmental constraints inherent to construction, requiring robust perception and adaptive motion planning capabilities. The company's robotics work addresses several concurrent objectives: improving construction speed and precision, reducing workplace safety risks, and lowering costs to address housing affordability. Led by CEO Brent Wadas, the team's technical domains include robotics, automation, AI, computer vision, and rapid prototyping, with emphasis on hardware-software integration for construction environments. The systems are designed to augment rather than replace existing builder processes, focusing on practical deployment constraints and proven field performance over theoretical capabilities.

RO

RoviSys

RoviSys has operated as a process automation and systems integration provider since 1989, evolving from one of the first control systems integrators in North America. The company delivers control system integration services, manufacturing execution systems (MES), building automation, industrial networks, and industrial AI solutions across North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific. RoviSys maintains a vendor-independent approach, implementing solutions using industry-leading, non-proprietary software and hardware platforms rather than being tied to specific control system vendors. The technical scope spans process automation, systems integration, and advanced engineering solutions with particular focus on analyzing, improving, and maintaining complex automation systems. Industrial AI capabilities address operational efficiency and productivity improvements through data-driven approaches. The company's work involves integrating strategies across building automation, industrial networks, MES implementations, and digital transformation initiatives - domains where automation intersects with information systems and requires cross-platform integration expertise. The engineering work centers on implementing control systems in industrial environments where reliability, interoperability, and long-term maintainability are critical constraints. Projects involve hardware-software boundaries common to industrial automation: DCS and PLC programming, SCADA systems, industrial networking protocols, and the integration of operational technology with enterprise information systems. The vendor-neutral positioning means engineers work across multiple platforms and must navigate the practical challenges of integrating heterogeneous systems in production environments where downtime has direct operational impact.

GO

Gorbel

Gorbel designs and manufactures overhead material handling equipment from four North American facilities in New York, Alabama, Arizona, and Canada. Founded in 1977 building manually rotated jib cranes, the company has grown to over 800 employees producing a product line that spans workstation bridge cranes, Cleveland Tramrail systems, ergonomic lifting devices, fall protection systems, and warehouse solutions. The engineering focus combines mechanical design with embedded systems and control software - current implementations use C and C++ on embedded platforms, with Infor SyteLine ERP managing manufacturing operations. The product portfolio includes intelligent lifting devices such as G-Force and Easy Arm, which incorporate sensors and control algorithms to assist operators with load handling. These systems address the engineering challenges of variable load sensing, dynamic balancing, and human-machine interface design in industrial environments. Gorbel has extended this core lifting technology into medical rehabilitation through the SafeGait Balance and Mobility Trainer, a system designed to support patients recovering from strokes and injuries - demonstrating cross-domain application of the same fundamental control and mechanical principles. The company's technical work spans mechanical engineering, embedded systems development, and industrial controls. Manufacturing operations across multiple sites support both standard product lines and custom configurations for specific material handling applications. With deployments across industrial manufacturing, warehousing, and healthcare facilities, the engineering team addresses constraints ranging from load capacity and duty cycle requirements to safety compliance and integration with existing facility infrastructure.
