The core of the system is a proprietary brain interface that captures neural signals without piercing the dura, designed for implantation in under a standard neurosurgical procedure. This hardware boundary - supradural sensing rather than intracortical - constrains signal fidelity but reduces surgical complexity and risk, a trade-off the company has chosen to optimize for clinical accessibility.
On the signal-processing side, Epia Neuro's decoder system interprets neural activity in real time and converts it into digital commands. The decoder is designed to continuously learn and refine its accuracy per patient, addressing the well-known challenge of neural signal drift and inter-patient variability in BCI systems. A proprietary intelligence layer coordinates context-aware movement execution, bridging the gap between decoded intent and actionable motor output.
