Atomic is a venture studio, founded in 2012 by serial entrepreneur Jack Abraham, that co-founds companies rather than investing in them from the outside. The studio pairs founders with ideas, teams, capital, and operational resources and acts as a co-founder through the build. Companies are started inside the studio and spun out, with more than 30 launched to date and over $750 million in assets under management across four funds.

Engineering is one of several in-house functions at the studio, alongside design, product, marketing, recruiting, legal, and finance. That shared infrastructure is intended to absorb the non-product work of standing up a company - hiring, corporate setup, go-to-market - so founding teams concentrate on the technical build. The studio describes its operating thesis as de-risking company creation: identifying large market opportunities and assembling the people and resources to pursue them from day zero.

Portfolio companies launched out of Atomic include Hims & Hers, OpenStore, Found, Bungalow, Homebound, Replicant, and Exowatt. Roles here are tied to the studio model: engineers may work on an early-stage company under formation, contribute to shared platform tooling, or move into a portfolio company as it scales. There is no standing product roadmap at the studio level - the technical problems are defined per venture, and the hardware/software boundary is set by the company being built.
